| Tiivistelmä: | In the crescendo of scientific responses to this immense human problem the voice of the operational research community has not so far been heard. Yet with a rich tradition of success in improving organizational decision-making it might be expected that operational research would be well placed to contribute to the debate surrounding this vital issue of public policy. The described model is based on system dynamics. The software runs on a suitably configured personal computer and produces high-resolution colour graph plots on screen as a major component of its output. The model's structure and parameters are also fully described, results of sensitivity tests performed on the crucial incubation-time distribution are reported. |
