Tiivistelmä: | Geographical structure of West Germany's commodity trade and foreign investment, commodity structure of German imports is presented disaggregating Western and developing countries (DC). How German development assistance reacts to the increasing marginalization of DCs' economic links is analysed. Three patterns are distinguished within German economic relations with DCs: OPEC countries, the exporting countries of primary products, and near-industrialized countries. Internationalization of the German economy and terms of trade are discussed. In spite of the liberalization of their foreign trade and the implementation of favourable investment codes, the DCs did not manage to reverse the tendency towards their peripheralization. |
