Tiivistelmä:This paper discusses linking market failure to corporate strategy via a series of propositions stemming from transaction cost economics and strategic management.The paper focuses on both vertical and horizontal strategies to address different types of market failure. The key contribution of this study is the deconstruction of the various types of market failure and the authors attempt to develop a theoretically grounded set of propositions taht identify the apprpriate corporate strategic responses that can be used to ameliorate the negative consequences of each type of failure. The conclusions contribute to the evolution of the business group and the viability of strategic choices that groups are likely to make in the process.
