| Tiivistelmä: | This study applies and refines the concept of ethnic competition to explain cross-national differences in anti-immigrant prejudices. The outgroup size measure is also refined in order to improve cross-national comparability. The study shows that the role of social and economic competition in explaining cross-national differences might be overestimated. In conclusion, the study argues that ethnic competition theory does not provide a framework wide enough to explain cross-national differences in ethnic threat. |
