Tiivistelmä:The purpose of the note is to comment on the artificiality of using known scales of measurement to make decisions. In particular, the author discusses the pitfalls of trying to please the decision maker and of using normalization as a number crunching device. The author present an example to show that a workable and theoretically sound theory for multi- criteria decisions is needed. It is demonstrated that the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) meets these requirements.
