Tiivistelmä:The concept of impulsive purchasing is explained. Some principles regarding the consumer behaviour are presented. The theoretical background of the impulsive purchasing is highlighted. Several criteria of this type of purchasing are determined. A typology of purchasing decisions is provided. A model of the decision making process is described and analyzed. The literature on impulsive purchasing is briefly reviewed. Three basic approaches are identified and their convergence is demonstrated. The results of two surveys are summarized. Based on consumers' opinion several improvements in the implementation of impulsive purchasing are proposed.
