| Tiivistelmä: | The further decline in employment for both clothing and household textiles to mid-1993 underlines the continued lack of recovery in these sectors during most of the year. Even though employment in the footwear sector levelled off, the importance of export sales to UK manufacturers (particularly in view of import penetration of the home market) left them open to new pressures as the recession in European economies became more marked, and in 1993 these factors also affected export performance for clothing. |
