| Tiivistelmä: | There have been signs of retailers and consumers expecting conditions to be more favourable for spending in 1996. By the final quarter of 1996, retailers were reporting rising demand levels. In addition, increases in retail prices suggested that customers' resistance to price rises had been significantly decreased. The price increases in the UK , reported by the CBI, were especially noticeable for clothing and also for footwear, being the largest for 23 yrs. |
