ANALYTICAL REVIEW
Kieli:eng
Tiivistelmä:First the paper points out intuitively the links between the institutional structure on capital markets and labor-market performance. Then the following chapter presents the structure of a macro-economic model relating unemployment to imperfect labor and capital markets. It captures the key effect that imperfect capital markets exacerbate structural unemployment that is created by malfunctioning labor markets. The next part of the article presents a cross-country panel analysis to estimate the relative importance of differences in institutional structures on labor and capital markets in explaining different national labor-market performances. Finally, the last chapter presents conclusions for economic policy.
