| Tiivistelmä: | The last two decades have witnessed a metamorphosis in the scale and fortunes of franchising in Europe. It is the intention of this article to outline the historical development of franchising up to the present day and then to examine the specific role and importance of the clearing banks involved in franchise lending throughout Europe. Finally, issues relating to the future of franchising are examined. The growth of franchising in Europe in the 1990s appears set to continue. |
