Tiivistelmä:The pasta market of the UK is examined. It is divided into four main sectors: canned, dry, fresh and pasta-based ready meals (frozen, chilled and ambient forms). The market showed little movement in 1990 with slight falls. Dry pasta performed well and is showing signs of a consistent growing trend. Fresh pasta remains a slowly expanding niche. Canned pasta sales fell and depressed the market overall. Canned pasta sales are accounted for by households with children. The best performing areas in 1990 were dry pasta and pasta ready meals. There is a definite potential for further growth.
