| Tiivistelmä: | The economic development in Japan is hampered even more by the correction of speculative exaggeration from the 1980s than in the USA. Impulses from the recent expansionary policy will gain influence on demand only in the last months of 1992. While investment at the moment is being supported by public projects and by a recovery of residential construction, business investment then also should start to expand again due particularly to markedly lower interest rates. The increase of the GNP in 1992 by about 2 p.c. will again be considerably lower than potential output, and potential output in 1993 will also hardly be matched by the overall expansion of slightly more than 3 per cent. |
