| Tiivistelmä: | Theory of the film was since the sixties equivalent to semiotics of the film. The notions of signifier and signified could be readily applied. The first great semiotician of the film was Christian Metz who investigated narrative of film and modelled the structure of the film. There were always films outside the model. Second phase of semiotics of the film was textual analysis. |
