| Tiivistelmä: | The topic of this paper is risk - in particular the problems that have arisen as risk management decisions have been politicized and how those missteps might be corrected. People rate sensational risks more highly than the more prosaic risks that actually do us in. Fears motivate people and the political system is alert to such realities and panders to them - shamelessly. Politically inflamed fears are now common in America. Alarmist fears are, after all, always present, but now they seem to gain a ready audience. |
