Tiivistelmä: | This paper presents a model incorporating aspects of psychological theory of equity, as an alternative to more conventional economics. People can feel distress if they contribute smaller or larger shares to the public good, than the others do, and they try somehow avoid this distress. This paper tests the hypotheis that individuals play Nash equilibrium strategies in which their induced payoff functions incorporate notions of fairness consistent with equity theory. The results support that individual voluntary contributions don't adequately reflect the Nash equilibrium of the game implied by self-interested agents, and they are consistent with an alternative model. |
