| Tiivistelmä: | This article presents the results of a study comparing problem-solving processes at three auto assembly plants, focusing on production-related, in-plant problems affecting quality that are not traceable to one clear-cut source. This kind of problems are common to all manufacturing plants and they cannot be easily resolved by applying a standard methodology or procedure, and they require high levels of interaction and coordination across multiple departments or functional groups. Problem-solving benefits from rich data that capture multiple perspectives on a problem and contain information about the physical context in which the problem occurs. |
