| Tiivistelmä: | The question of evaluation (hereafter as: evl.) remains as a major contentious issue also in the field of health informatics with the traditions of medicine meeting with the information systems (IS) field. In this paper, an approach to evl. is developed based broadly on critical theory. It is argued that such an approach, while not offering a solution to all the problems of evl., does bring into focus fundamental questions as to the evl. process and content. The paper reflects on the strengths and weaknesses of an evl. of a primary care Intranet, suggesting how a critical approach might lead to a more meaningful evl. providing more useful and significant findings. |
