| Tiivistelmä: | This article reviews the behavior of convergence/divergence within Western Europe and the OECD since 1950. The author also considers the role of technological shifts in relation to different growth theories. The empirical analysis is based on internationally available data in order to develop measures of the convergence/divergence alternation as continuous processes over time. The results show that industrial revolutions relate to the cyclical variation between these forces. |
