| Tiivistelmä: | Until 1968, when the gold price was liberated, there was only five firms on the London gold market. Between 1968 and 1979 South Africa, the main supplier of gold step by step channelled the growing part of her sales to Zurich. In 1979 the British exchange controls were lifted, giving new attraction to London. London regained its primacy but not her unchallenged position. Now there are almost sixty firms on the market, but the traditional fives still play a leading role in gold trade. The newcomers want to participate in the formulation of trading standards and practices. |
