| Tiivistelmä: | This study explores the role of interfirm alliances (hereafter as: all./alls.) as a mechanism for sharing technological knowledge (here as: kn.), arguing that kn. flows between all. partners will be greater than flows btw. pairs of non-allied firms, and less than flows btw. units within single firms. Using patent citations as a proxy, results consistent with these expectations are found. It is then explored how firm characteristics affect kn. flows within alls. Positive effects due to technological, geographic, and business similarities btw. partners are found. |
