| Tiivistelmä: | Led by the success of Japanese manufacturing firms and the drastic improvement of transportation and communication systems, the competitive environment has become so unpredictable that it challenges even well-run manufacturing firms in the world. This paper shows how and why world-class manufacturing firms can achieve a sustainable competitive advantage only by attaining strategic flexibility. Strategic flexibility refers to a firm's ability to respond to uncertainties by adjusting its objectives with the support of its superior knowledge and capabilities. |
