Tiivistelmä:This article examines the impact of team diversity (hereafter as: div.) on team functioning and performance. The effects of div. are divided into two levels: surface-level div. caused by gender and ethnicity and moderated by team orientation, and deep-level div. caused by time urgency and extraversion and moderated by team process. Using a longitudinal analysis of 45 business student teams, it is found that team orientation was of help in neutralizing the negative effects of gender on relationship conflict. Similarly, team processes reduced the harmful effects of time urgency.
