Tiivistelmä: | This study examines exploitative learning (here as: exp-lrng.) and entrepreneurial orientation (EO) in emerging young high-technology firms located within business incubators. The rationale for supporting business incubation, as the U.K. government has done for about GBP 125 million during five years, is to maximize knowledge sharing across firms with an expectation of leveraging performance. ... Theoretical and empirical questions are raised herein as to the value of exp-lrng. within a network context, possibly negatively influencing the impact of EO on the firm. Using configuration theory, it is shown that firms cannot sustain dual-dominant orientations of exp-lrng. and EO. A strongly configured EO generates high performance returns. However, using a multi-group analysis it is found that these effects are especially strong for those firms whose exp-lrng. is weak. |
