Tiivistelmä:A novel construct, 'green core competence' (henceforth as: g-c-c.), is proposed to examine its positive effects on green innovation(here as: g-i.) and green images (as: g-images) of firms. It is found that g-c-c. were positively correlated to their g-i. performance and g-images. Moreover, it was also verified that two types of g-i. performance had partial mediation effects btw. g-c-c. and g-images of firms. Thus, investment in the development of g-c-c. was helpful to businesses for the enhancement of their g-i. and g-images. Furthermore, it was also found that g-c-c., two types of g-i. performance, and g-images of medium and small enterprises (SMEs) were all significantly less than those of large enterprises in the information and electronics industry in Taiwan. Therefore, there was the advantage of firm size for the g-c-c. in this industry, and for the SMEs it was imperative to develop and create their g-c-c. to strengthen their g-i., and g-images.
