| Tiivistelmä: | The article represents the concept of information events, focusing the discussion on certain information- and communication-intensive activities that are common to many types of work. Workflow automation systems and electronic data interchange applications are discussed and compared. The authors suggest that an improvement in communication technology will bring about many and more cooperative outsourcing arrangements between hosts and vendors. They also claim that the message management system / formal languages for business communication combination will enable these cooperative outsourcing arrangements to extend and evolve over time, benefiting both host and vendor. |
