Tiivistelmä:Increasing competition has forced most insurance companies to become primarily market-driven. One potential tool for meeting the market challenge is CASE (computer-aided software engineering). CASE tools are traditionally used in planning and analysis, systems design, programming assistance, and maintenance assistance. Each of these tools is considered individually. It is shown how CASE has been used by Lincoln Benefit Life Company (LBL), a member of the Sears family to improve its illustration software development process. LBL's solution is Shadow, at its very essence a script language translator. Shadow reduced the programmers' task to responding to specific events and has made design changes instantaneous.
