| Tiivistelmä: | As the awareness of a new industrial revolution has grown, the difficulty of applying advanced technology has drawn attention. Following a synthesis of the principal contending theses from the past 30 years about trends in job qualifications, recent research studies in Europe and the US about the qualifications required for the application of new technology are reviewed. The old and new concepts on qualification in terms of skill, responsibility, interdependence and education. New ways of conceiving the relationship between automation and qualification are suggested and some conclusions drawn for public authorities and the engineers who design these new systems. |
