Tiivistelmä: | A highly automated Mexican plant of dairy-products achieves surprising productivity in spite of the low-level of qualification of its staff. The plant is a subsidiary of a French multinational corporation. High productivity may be due to the reproduction of traditional Mexican culture which compensates for the lack of substantial education level and qualification of the labour force. The workers get only on-the-job training. The supervisors are managing production more directly than their French colleagues. Human relations are more informal and rely on a network of close personal ties in the company. The direction cannot handle adequately the secondary hierarchy among the informal groups. |
