Tiivistelmä:Until recently variations in job design practices have not been considered important determinants of economic performance in the US. The enormous productivity successes of several foreign models of work organization are drawing attention to the restructuring of the work place as an industrial strategy. The issue is job complexity and measurement. The perception of work complexity by workers was empirically examined. The job setting was characterized by technology, organization, work and worker characteristics, training and skill progression etc. A new method for job complexity coding was developed. A number of conclusions were drawn for job design, job satisfaction, physical and intellectual job demands.
