| Tiivistelmä: | Results are reported from a model which simulates some potential implications and the range of feasible adjustment paths, for the Canadian economy, of the computer-based automation technologies. Uncertainty concerning Canada's rate of adoption of the new technology, relative to other countries, has been modeled by comparing alternative scenarios which are determined by different diffusion rates of the new technology, different degrees of dependence on foreign production of the required new equipment, and different degrees of success in export markets. The aggregate results indicate that application of available technologies does not seriously threaten the total number of jobs available. |
