Tiivistelmä:Contemporary literature on the relevance of organizational culture for corporate performance might be categorized into certain typical positions, conceptualizing culture as a building block in organizational design, as symbolic management, as a diagnostic instrument, as a paradigmatic concept. Assumptions about how culture affects efficiency are critically examined. Part of the problem has to do with separating culture and non-culture. Viewing culture as a metaphor for organizations or as a paradigm, umbrella concept, for research appears as more reasonable. This approach avoids the problems of making distinctions between the cultural subsystem and other types of social phenomena.
