| Tiivistelmä: | Following the swift propagation of information and communication technology in offices and administrative spheres, industry is now becoming intensively involved in production automation. The demand for production automation has led to an estimated world market volume of 26 to 34 billion US dollars, with further strong prospects for growth. This market is expected to double to about 53 billion US dollars within a period of four years. The new problems of technology management are discussed. New economic criteria are proposed. The even greater role of expert systems is emphasized. Some examples are mentioned from Japan, the USA, Sweden and the Federal Republic of Germany. |
