| Tiivistelmä: | The recent credit squeeze in the US was largely due to a shrinking money supply. Firms were forced to restructure, liquidate assets, and in some cases close down. These problems were especially evident in some small firms which rely heavily on bank financing. Bankers claim that they are making loans to all qualified borrowers. However, the story is just the opposite when told by small businessmen. The main objective of this paper is to examine this obvious inconsistency and to identify the financing needs of small firms. This objective is accomplished by a survey of small business. |
