| Tiivistelmä: | The author deals with the tourist industry of Oman, and states that tourism is seen as an alternative source of much-needed income, and that the government is is offering incentives to woo the private sector to invest in tourism projcts. The secondary aim of launching itself in this new industry is to find jobs for Omanis, particularly women. Its tourism industry to date is centred around the capital, Muscat, which has a dozen hotels of international standard. In the south, Salah is picking up as a secondary tourism destination. |
