Tiivistelmä:In this article two methodological approaches are combined to examine the effects of climate change on subsistence hunting in a Canadian Arctic community. Until this the problem was that rational choice modeling (hereafter as: RCM) lacked of data and suffered from oversimplified assumptions, while the results of more grounded methods (hereafter as: GM) could not be generalized. It was found out that RCM brings out questions for directing the grounded research, and GM present general relationships, hypotheses, and data for economic modeling. Finally, using local knowledge, a discrete-choice travel-cost model of subsistence hunting is estimated, and it is found out that during the hunting season climate warming may cost a household a half day of lost time.
