| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines the impact of the increased power of shareholders to managerial practices using observation study of eight Swedish CEOs of large private companies. The results show that when CEOs become aligned by external expectations from financial markets they in turn align their senior managers through communicating the expectations forward. The CEOs see themselves as accountable to their stakeholders therefore concentrating on the fullfilment of goals preferred among financial actors. The expectations create a harsch climate inside the companies decreasing job security and putting CEOs and senior managers under pressure. |
