| Tiivistelmä: | The optimal antitrust policy is analyzed in the context of a patent race. The conditions under which allowing cooperation yields greater welfare than imposing competition are identified in a simplified model. The current European policy towards R&D cooperation is critically discussed in the light of the results. |
