| Tiivistelmä: | The importance of transport infrastructure as a factor in destination development is analyzed in this paper. The study demonstrates that transport infrastructure forms an element of the classical demand for international tourism functions. Focusing on the case of Mauritius, the total arrivals are modeled and investigated. Tourists from Europe/America are found to be sensitive to the island's transport and nontransport infrastructure, whereas the tourists from Asia are found to be sensitive only to the transport infrastructure. In addition, other factors of tourism demand equation are considered. |
