| Tiivistelmä: | An empiric investigation of whether industrial organization-oriented foreign direct investment theories explain the recent phenomenon of reverse foreign direct investment in the U.S. It is found that capital and advertising intensities act as entry barriers to foreign investment in the U.S. but foreign multinationals are attracted by the size of the U.S. market, and invest in industries, using intensive research and development, combined with marketing efforts. Four Tables are given of industry growth, key variables, regression results and dependent variable. The authors suggest the empirical results should be approached with care. |
