Tiivistelmä:The effect of national culture on the process of recruitment and the consequent risks for the individuals is investigated on examples from France, the United States and Japan. Curriculum vitae and letters of recommendation are analyzed. They are very much specific to the country of issue and its national culture. The candidates examined seek employment with an international firm abroad. Further the country of destination is dealt with in the aspect of recruitment customs and practices. The findings show that some countries attach more importance to education while others to professional experience. It the communication between the candidate and the recruiter both parties must consider each other's culture.
