Tiivistelmä:It is argued that interpretive strategy formulation is a multilevel process grounded in language and the politics of property, trust, and awareness in organizations. The establishment of legitimacy is analyzed and it is argued that it is a collective process in which leaders, followers, and stakeholders -who all compete for control over the labeling of ideas, for the conditions that make some ideas safe to discuss and others unsafe; and for control over processes and procedures that formally attach such ideas to the behavior and status of the organization- alike participate in the making of meaning.
