Multifunctional teams are found to be the most effective way to cut through barriers to good design. Chief functions of design teams are listed. The product's character is examined. Product function analysis is described as an important method. The aims of value engineering are analysed. Questions are collected for improving the assembly process. A factory system is proposed that fully involves workers in the production strategy, operates on minimal inventory, and is integrated with vendors' methods and capabilities. Strategic design is described as a continual process. |
