| Tiivistelmä: | Previously reported comparative statistical studies of the factors that relate to industrial and R and D success in the UK, West Germany and Japan are summarized. The results of a similar survey conducted in the US is reported and the findings are compared with those for the other countries. Two groups of variables were studied, those relating to manufacturing productivity, and those relating to the efficiency of R and D. In the first set a productivity index, turnover per employee, was used as the dependent variable. In the second three different dependent variables representing R and D success were constructed. The effects of a large number of independent variables on the two dependent ones were explored. The results of the study are discussed. |
