Tiivistelmä:Cross-cultural problems occur when a manager has to work in foreign cultural environment. The main objective of cross-cultural research is to explain the similar and different behavioral characteristics of the organizations under examination. Culture, both macro or societal level and the micro level is one of the most important factors influencing managerial activities. The main components of culture /artefacts, values and behavioral norms, fundamental assumptions/ are described. The results of three earlier researches are analyzed: Haire/Ghiselli/Porter /1966/, Terpstra /1978/, Hofstede /1980/. The role of cross-cultural study of managemet in international business, especially in strategic management is accentuated.
