Tiivistelmä: | An approximate method is investigated that iterates among solutions for each of the servers in a large system. The method is approximate unless an assumption of independence among servers is valid. Nevertheless, useful results are attainable that hold intuitive appeal and provide a geometric reduction in the number of states needed to obtain solutions. The usefulness of the procedure is demonstrated through an error analysis of a simple system. The method allows sheriff deputies to analyze the results of using different random patrol strategies. The comparison with simulation results further justifies the practical utility of the approach. |
