| Tiivistelmä: | Cyclic queues have been widely applied to the study of computer, data, and telecommunication networks. For example, in computer local area networks the nodes represent terminals or work stations. The customers are the messages that arrive at a terminal for processing. The server is an imaginary token or signal that activates a terminal whose messages are then transmissed or processed. Cyclic queue models of such networks permits calculation of important information such as response time, the expected waiting time for a message to be processed, and the expected backlog of messages at a terminal. |
