| Tiivistelmä: | Its is extremely difficult if not impossible to measure shortage costs. To avoid this difficulty in aggregate production planning, the authors develop an optimal production function for trade -offs between shortages and the sum of production and inventory costs. The optimal decision depends on this function. Since similar functions have been applied with success for inventory management, this generalization should be of major interest. |
