| Tiivistelmä: | A system must operate for the next certain units of time. Certain components are essential for the system's are essential for the system's operation and must be replaced by new components whenever they fail. One such component is considered and its price is supposed to increase over time. The problem is to provide a proper number of spares for this component so as to minimize the total expected cost of maintaining the system operative for the above mentioned units of time. The basic results are extended to the case where component's price over time is represented by an arbitrary continuous function. |
