Tiivistelmä:For the analysis of the economies of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, a fundamental bottleneck to empirical research is found because economic time series and official economic statistics are usually not available. A significant time of researchers is devoted to gathering, assembling and processing pieces of an incomplete statistical puzzle. The problem becomes that of extracting the maximum amount of information contained in the available data. An econometric method is offered for increasing the precision of seemingly redundant, heavily rounded data typically found in statistical publications. Using the constrained least squares and feasible GLS estimators it is possible to predict the true matrix of growth indexes.
