Tiivistelmä: | A number of background factors in the current environment have the potential for generating significant changes in the evolution of the world trading system. Among the key unknowns are the future implementation of the USA 1988 Omnibus Trade Act and the trend to bilateral and regional bloc arrangements. In both cases, the outcome of the Uruguay Round will strongly influence developments. New technology and changing corporate strategy will provide a new set of incentives for the development of productive resources closer to final markets. But governments' pressure to secure "quality" investment within their frontiers will also have to be factored into corporate decision-making. |
